Femme Noise Magazine
Challenge
The challenge was to produce a thirty-six paged magazine, full with
table of contents, letter from the editor, briefs, two main features, several advertisements, and more. The project spanned an entire fall semester, from September to December, resulting in what would be the most tedious project of all my portfolio.
Solution
In designing an entire magazine over the span of several months, I would
be spending countless hours poured into the project. Thus, I chose to do a magazine about one of my biggest passions, music. But this wouldn’t be just any music-focused editorial project- no, this would be specific to my experience, as a female in the harder genres of music. Tons of research ensued, as well as the collection of tons of photos, articles, excerpts and more. Sure enough, I was able to piece everything together bit by bit, until I had a final product.
Results
Being the hardest project I have worked on, I learned so much with this magazine. Among everything, I lost a family member during this project. This made the end extremely difficult, as he passed in November. At the forefront of my mind throughout this project was patience and learning to trust the process. No matter how hard this project got at times, particularly at the end, I was able to use the self-discipline I was taught through this project to get through it.
